How do I beat Cynthia? Any suggestions/strategies?
Hi, I need some help. In Pokemon D/P, I always beat the Elite 4 but I have a bit of trouble with Cynthia. She always beats me! I tried like 3 times, but still, I can't win! I know what Pokemon she has; I looked at Bulbapedia. These are my Pokemon:
Infernape Lvl. 54
Flamethrower
Dig
Rock Climb
Close Combat
Luxray Lvl. 55
Thunder Fang
Swagger
Strength
Iron Tail
Chimecho Lvl. 54
Healing Wish (I know, sort of useless.)
Psychic
Extrasensory
Charge Beam
Pachirisu Lvl. 53
Grass Knot
Thunderbolt
Cut
Shock Wave
Pelipper Lvl. 54
Surf
Ice Beam
Defog
Fly
Floatzel Lvl. 54
Brine
Crunch
Rock Smash

Please note I have a Rare Candy. Can you tell me which Pokemon I should use it on? I thought about Pachirisu, but I'm not so sure... She always faints once Gastrodon uses Earthquake. Thank you!
If you know what pokemon she has, then you should know what her pokes are weak to...
Loose either luxray or Pachirisu...heck I'd loose them both as they are both weak electric types. Jolteon or pikachu/raichu are better.
Get rid of either Flotzel or Pelipper. You don't need two water types, just like you don't need two electric types.
For your current team, this is what I would do:
Infernape: Keep it. Great fire and fighting type moves. Ditch Dig for Overheat.
Chimecho: Solid Psychic
Luxray: Not the strongest Elec type, but servicable. I’d ditch Thunder Fang for plain Thunder
Pelipper: Keep Surf, fly and Ice Beam…Ditch defog for another water type move like water pulse.
Get a grass type…Leafeon works well here…or if you can Turtwig. But any grass type.
Dragon types work well too…I would go with Dragonite which can learn different types of moves such as Blizzard or Ice Beam, Thunder, Outrage, and Focus Blast.
Starting with the elite 4:
Infernape up first against Aaron’s Bug..fire will slay them quickly..
Next up is the ground trainer, Most would go with Water, but I use grass here. Razor or Magical leaf work well. The Fire trainer is up next…so use your Pelipper’s Surf and water pulse will own the fire types. The last elite 4 is psychic so use what you have.
For cynthia, in D/P..Spiritomb should be easy, use your infernape. Lucario is next so again, Infernape’s Flamethrower or Close Combat will give you a quick win. Gastrodon is water ground so your grass type should own it quick and it should also beat Cynthia’s Milotic as well. Switch back to infernape for Roserade, which is weak to fire, then switch to your dragon and use it’s ice power (Ice Beam or Blizzard) to take out Cynthia’s Garchomp.

P.S. one other suggestion...other than Fly and surf, I would remove all HMs from your pokemon. You can use pokemon like Bidoof and load it up with the other HMs..if you need to use defog, simply grab the poke that has it at a pokemon center...also you can simply swap in your battle pokemon at the pokecenter before you battle the elite 4.
